About National Informatics Centre:

National Informatics Centre starting as a small programme under an external stimulus by UNDP project in early 70's, NIC started functioning in 1977. Since then it has grown incrementally and later exponentially as one of India's major Science and Technology organisations, promoting informatics led development. In 1984-85, Government of India decided to extend the NIC services to State Governments, Union Territory Administrations and District administrations in the country. NIC has setup a nation-wide network NICNET

At present National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the Department of Information Technology is providing network backbone and e-Governance support to Central Government, State Governments, UT Administrations, Districts and other Government bodies. It offers a wide range of ICT services including Nationwide Communication Network for decentralized planning, improvement in Government services and wider transparency of national and local Governments. NIC assists in implementing Information Technology Projects, in close collaboration with Central and State Governments, in the areas of (a) Centrally sponsored schemes and Central sector schemes, (b) State sector and State sponsored projects, and (c) District Administration sponsored projects. NIC endeavors to ensure that the latest technology in all areas of IT is available to its users.

District Informatics Centre Sehore:

Sehore, DISTRICT INFORMATICS CENTRE (NIC-Sehore) was setup in 1989 in accordance with the M.O.U. signed between NIC and Govt. of Madhya Pradesh to set up NICNET facilities in M.P.

NIC-Sehore is providing required support services in design, development, and implementation of appropriate MIS/Databases, Training, Electronic Communication and processing of various Departmental databases. The user departments include District Court, Agriculture, Revenue, Planning, Statistical, Rural Development, Urban Development, District Treasury, Food and Civil supplies, Excise, Education, Health, Public Health Engineering, Women and Child Development, Industry, Land Record, Sales Tax, Tribal Welfare, Election etc.

Considering the contribution for the development activities in the field of Information Technology at district Sehore and automation of various administrative and management activities like Elections, Government revenue, Gram and Nagar Sampark Abhiyan.
